We love being Catholic.  It is the undercurrent of joy and happiness that runs through every moment of every day in our lives.  We have found that this work is a powerful resource that supports every fiber of our Catholic marriage.  Ron and I have learned to dialogue when challenges come.  What used to be a fight that would take days to recover from is now several hours of respectful discussion, ending in resolution.  A most welcomed swap!  We have also seen our easy, enjoyable times influenced by dialogue: we keep conversations safe, 2-way, and empathic in a way that surpasses our previous way of relating.  Our pleasure in being together has increased as we have learned how to love each other better.

This is what our Catholic faith teaches us to do:

“So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God . . .   Now you must get rid of all such things–anger, wrath, malice, slander and abusive language from your mouth.  Do not lie to one another . . .  As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.  Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together.”  (Col. 3:1-14)

Anyone would want to be able to do these things.  Who wouldn’t want to eradicate anger, abusive language and deceit from their marriage?  Who wouldn’t want a marriage full of compassion, meekness, kindness, patience, forgiveness and love?  But how do we actualize this calling?  How do we (Ron Rombs and Kathryn Rombs) make this choice when times are rough?

Imago is the tool that we have found that enables the transition from instinctual behavior to godly behavior.  That is why we helped create A New Way to Love: for Catholic Couples.  We wanted to share with our beloved Catholics this resource that will surely help them improve and enrich their sacramental marriages.

God bless you,

Ron and Kathryn Rombs
